DeFi Insurance Protocol Pays First Restaking Slash Claim in Under Nine Minutes
A small AVS misconfiguration led to a $1.4M slash across 62 restakers. Nexus Mutual's v4 policy paid out before most of the affected addresses noticed.

A small Actively Validated Service running on EigenLayer misconfigured its slashing condition on Tuesday evening, triggering a $1.4 million slash across 62 restakers. It should have been a headline. It was a footnote — because Nexus Mutual's v4 parametric restaking policy paid out the covered portion in 8 minutes and 41 seconds.
The payout marks the first live claim under Nexus's restaking-slash product, which launched in January as a direct response to the systemic concerns flagged by the Ethereum Foundation's stress analysis of the EigenLayer stack.
